The method
Seven indicators, fixed goalposts, four equal dimensions
Each indicator is scaled 0–100 between fixed goalposts, as in the UN’s Human Development Index, so scores can be compared across years.
Indicators within a dimension are averaged; the four dimensions are averaged with equal weight. Missing years are filled from the nearest year within four years (eight for schooling in 2024), or by straight-line interpolation. Countries missing a whole dimension are left out. The score is a summary, not an official index; it is sensitive to the choice of indicators, which is why the chapters show each measure separately.
